Nappanee, IN -- Newmar Corporation, who bills 'The Newmar Difference,' apparently isn't much different than many other RV builders in one respect: The decelerated economy is throwing some Newmar employees into the unemployment lane.
According to a story in the South Bend Tribune, this week Newmar will hand out pink slips to an undisclosed number of recipients. The paper says rumor has it that as many of 40% of its 780 person workforce, but the company would not confirm or deny the rumor.

Newmar spokesfolk would confirm the problem stems from a downturned economy--the demand for Newmar's towables and motorhomes just isn't keep the company busy enough.
Company employees are apprehensive. "The biggest concern is that there are not a lot of other RV employment opportunities out there," says a company spokesman.
