An Oklahoma woman went into her motorhome to investigate a strange beeping noise, only to find what she first thought was a 'pretty scarf' wrapped around a lamp cord. When she reached out to pick it up, Grace Wallace discovered it sure didn't feel like a scarf. Instead of a silken creation, it turned out to be a reptilian creation: A four foot long, red-tailed boa constrictor. Being raised in rattlesnake country, and having been bitten by a copperhead, Wallace told the McAlster News, "I know a snake when I see one, and this was definitely a snake." On reaching this rather chilling conclusion, Grace beat a hasty retreat from the RV and called for backup. Grace's husband and an assortment of relatives arrived, keeping the boa at bay with a flashlight beam. Finally, local animal control officers managed to untangle the reluctant reptile from the lamp cord, stuffed it in a pillow case, and carted it off to the local animal slammer. Perhaps with a bit of a shiver, Grace recalls that she'd passed the boa a number of times on errands in and out of the motorhome. "If ever there was a pretty snake, it was a pretty snake,"Grace Wallace said. "But that doesn’t mean I want it in my motor home — or anywhere around me for that matter." That beeping noise Grace went to check out? Apparently the snake had knocked the phone off the hook. Top of Page Get your FREE RV Travel Newsletter every week - sign up now.
