"Luv Shak" Takes 5th Wheel Graphics to New Extremes

Are they hippie throwbacks? Visionaries? Just plain crazy? You'll have to make the call for yourself. Vance and Kathleen Hamiliton decided to throw away the stix-n- brix lifestyle for a new fifth wheel. Not contented with the factory livery, they hired an artist who--not with an airbrush mind you, but with a plain old paintbrush--turned their new fifth wheel into a traffic stopping, hummingbird attracting, child enthralling, mobile work of art. Beauty, they say, is in the eye of the beholder.

Maybe it's her background. Kathleen spent 30 years teaching middle school students. If that's not enough to addle your brain, well, anyway. The Landmark built fifth wheel now sports huge murals boasting nature in every mile traveled. Tree frogs, butterflies, even a castle make up the eye-popping designs that seem to practically grow out of the side of the 5er. You can only imagine the experiences this couple has had with their--shall we say, colorful--rig? Check out more photos and information here.

  • Hope the "artist" didn't charge much!! If it was a one of her pupils, then ok! I once decorated my "powderroom" in a naive style djungle scene with a snake hiding the pipes. Wasn't much appreciated by my visitors!!

  • How utterly unboring! That is a lot more than can be said for Most R.V.'s and R.V.er's I don't care if they want o paint their home with a dust mop! that is their business and if they are having fun, and i'll bet that they are, congrats to them. They are accomplishing what they rest of the world is just striving for. Too bad that adventure, nature, travel, the wonderful things in life have to be ruined by typical American attitudes of materialism, judgementalism, keeping up with the Joneses, and who has the biggest and the best and most of all the most ACCEPTABLE, by other peoples conservative standards. Most people dislike immensely, and love to criticize people who do things they they themselves don't have nerve to do.

  • I love it. Shows these people are out of the mainstream where everyone wants to be like everyone else. Such a boring place to be. I bet this couple is happier than most RV'rs out there.

I always wanted to have VW van with flowers painted growing from the bottom and birds, bees, and butterflys flitting about. Just a flower child at heart!

  • I'm jealous - how can I get hold of the painter to paint my RV? There're few things more boring than the current RV paint jobs!

  • Anything is better than the cow tails dipped in paint that create the swirls and loops that RV Mfg's have forced upon us.
I've peeled half of them off my bus, but the other ones were painted around so I have to leave them on or paint the whole rig.

  • So that is wrong with our kids today (With teachers like that teaching them)

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7:38 AM

  • I hope the previous "anonymous" at 7:38am was joking in its comment about teachers. At the very least this camper looks striking, fun and stand-outish. Do what you need to do, but have fun.

  • I hope that RV builders are reading this blog. It was just last month when I commented to my better half that I would love to see rigs with more solid coloring and some murals.

Maybe by the itme we buy I next rig, we will have some colorful choices instead of drab white.
