I use the RubberMaid collapsible storage containers for leftovers. They fold accordian-style to less than 1" thick and expand to about 3" high. If the container is not filled to the top, I only expand it enough to hold what I need to store. It can be 1", 2", or 3" high as needed. Saves a lot of refrigerator space.

Before leaving home I cook meats, remove the bones and freeze them in a vacuum package. Vegetables are also cooked and frozen in vacuum packages.
This permits quite a number of meals to be stored in my small freezer area.
The frozen vacuum packages can be defrosted inside or outside of the frige and dropped into hot water when convenient. This results in a good, quick hot meal, while saving on fuel.
There are also water faucets that can provide instant hot water from shore power, when it is available. This reduces the need to heat water on a gas stove or heat several gallons of water in the water heater.

I store as much as I can in zip lock bags. They come in especially handy in the freezer for storing meats, etc.

When I purchase products for the RV fridge I buy the smaller sizes, a quart of milk or half gallon, I take as much as possible out of its origninal containers (usually a lot of extra packaging) and will put things in round containers (like salsa or sour cream) into square stackable containers. Extra work, but more space for extra goodies.

We use zip-lock bags instead of hard containers for must refrigerator storage.

Move foods that come in circular containers and must be containerized into containers with 90 degree corners. it uses the space that the round edges wastes. Be sure, however, that you do have room for air circulation. Crunchy milk on cereal is not wonderful.

To save space in the freezer compartment, we take the food out of the boxes and put in Ziplock bags. We found boxes take up a lot of space.

Hi Jim,
There is no need to store eggs in a fridge an ordinary cupboard is OK. Even more space available.

Because freezer space is also very limited in RV fridges, I use rectangular plastic containers that are about 2 inches deep and transfer my frozen veggies into them. They stack beautifully and make things neater in the freezer. Another bonus...you can see at a glance what the contents are.

I use a plastic shoe box.
two on each shelf and put jars of salsa and mustards in them. all I have to do it pull out this box to get to things.
