RVers be Careful When You Sail by Oversized Loads
You see all kinds of stuff being hauled around like giant tanks, long windmill blades, military vehicles, aircraft and huge pipes. I always wonder where they are going and what they intend to do with all that stuff. It makes the time pass – and speaking of passing, please study this photo and think about what you see.
When you begin to pass the picture begins to become more clear.
Now you see that the sail mast is sticking way out in back of the boat but you didn’t notice it at first unless you have really good observation skills. My point is that you need to be careful around these rigs because there is usually more than meets the eye. Be careful out there and happy RVing! Jim Twamley

Just slightly illegal, isn't he? The hauler is supposed to have a red flag flapping off that mast.....for precisely the reason you're showing here!!!!!

There is a red flag on the end of the mast, but it doesn't flap much. The requirement should be that it had to be at least 12" wide at rest, and have a crossbar to keep it visible at all times.

I agree with the red flag at least 12" and have a crossbar to keep it visible.
Reason for saying this is that I just came back from a trip to Houston, Tx and coming out of San Antonio, Tx on I-10 and traveling at 65 MPH, for me at least in he MH, I came upon a long large vehicle oversize with a small truck following it with lights flashing to warn us, but he was only 2 cars length from the end of the vehicle and when I came around the curve and saw that they were traveling only approx 25mph, I had to start slamming on he air brakes as the left lane was full of cars going 70-80 mph and I had no where to go. Luckly, I got it slowed down enough to be able to move to the left lane and proceed.
My point is that the trailing vehicle should have been back approx 50 yrds to allow time for us to adjust to the situtation.
So the more warning signs the better.
