Most RVers think of the State of Oregon as a forested wonderland and home of Crater Lake National Park. Most don't know that Oregon was the only place in the USA that was attacked by the Japanese Navy during WWII. Fort Stevens is located at the mouth of the Columbia River and guarded this strategic port of entry dating back to the Civil War. You are forgetting that Alaska is a part of the US. The Japanese invaded and occupied Attu and Kiska Islands in the Aleutions at the beginning if WWII

Actually, Alaska didnt become a state until January 3, 1959, long after the war.
