Safe Fire Starter For RVers
So here’s an idea to help get your BBQ or campfire started off in the right direction. You can purchase StarterLoggs at WalMart for 47 cents apiece.
You lay your wood or charcoal around one of these and then light both ends of the StarterLogg. You can make fire starters yourself out of sawdust, paraffin and a paper egg carton, but for only 47 cents, why bother? These are light weight and easy to store. Pick up a few and keep them on hand.
You can even use them to start a fire in your fireplace at your stick house. Getting you fired-up on RVing - Jim Twamley, Professor of RVingLabels: Camping Equipment

We have used this method for years to light the fire in our home fireplace. FYI: you don't even have to use an entire starter log...about half to a third of a log will have your campfire crackling in no time!

Another thing that is very easy to use and even cheaper is dryer lint from your dryer or laundrymat dryers. The stuff lights easy and will light up a campfire with ease. Just stick it into a baggie and store it for when you want to use it. You can stuff a lot in a baggie.

Another cheap Southern recipe is to take a coffee can and fill with ashes. Then mix lighter fluid and start stirring till you get a thick paste. Usually one tablespoon under your tender is more than enough. Will last forever and won't spill.

We use dryer lint in an egg carton and drip wax from a candle onto the lint till the lint is drenched, then when you want to start a fire, just tear off one of the egg holders, and light it with a match. Instant flame and it works well in fire pits, barbeques and other places you want to start a fire.
