RVers Storm the Quartzsite RV Show on Day One

RVers make Quartzsite, Arizona what it is. I can write all day about it describing the sights, sounds and smells that are Quartzsite, but I couldn't do it justice like a piece of video. On a hot day the big tent reeks of human body odor. Fortunately for me it was morning and slightly cool. Lots of bodies packed into a big tent and the grounds immediately outside the tent are what welcome you to the RV show. People with PA systems hawking knives, cookware and all manor of gadgets (as seen on TV) are ever present. When you stand still and shut your eyes at this show you immediately become aware of the volume created by a multitude of human voices and the eerie carnival-like atmosphere. Some people come here and never return believing "once is enough." Others, like myself, are irresistibly drawn to these events where you are surrounded by a sea of people. I dig it! So, to give you an even better close-up look at Quartzsite and the RV show load up the video below and come exploring with the Professor.

Keep coming back this week as I show you some very cool products I ran across at the Quartzsite RV show. Coming to an RV show near you - Jim Twamley, Professor of RVing

  • Went.

    Saw.

    Never to back.

I don't understand the lure. Stuff I can see elsewhere, like the cookware and knives. Boondocking is terrible, with people running their generators all day and night, since they probably have hookups the rest of the year. $4 for a draft beer?!?

    See you at Imperial Valley.

  • Quartzsite is a definate must at least once or twice for an RV'er. You actually will never experience a trip equal to this anywhere in our great country. You will find all types of gizzies to enhance your style of life or just sit and stare at and wonder why in this world you purchased it. If not, then you will definately meet people from all over our nation to swap stories with about each of our individual lifestyles on this adventurous journey of rv'ing.
    See ya" at Quartzsite!!!

  • You really don't have to set up in the desert and boondock. There are many campgrounds around with full hookups in Quartzsite and towns nearby. We like to stay in the Parker area along the Colorado River, it's quiet up here. Then just make a day trip down to Quartzsite, take in the show and vendors...
You really need to lighten up when you come to this area, you can find the bargains if you are patient. If the beer costs too much, go home and drink in your RV.
The Parker Strip offers more adventures than you would expect for this area of Arizona. We just love the mountains and river; and Lake Havasu. For those who must golf, there is Emerald Canyon Golf Course, top rated... check it out.

  • Darn it Anon, I was saving the Parker Strip for myself! There you go blabbing and telling everybody what a great place it is! Have you no shame!LOL You are absolutely correct on it, great place to stay and the Blue Water Casino is very RV friendly. There are places across the Colorado River such as Big River and at Blythe also. If you like ancient Indian art, there are the huge, ancient Intaglios just North of Blythe, that are best viewed from the air. My favorite is the Fisherman.
