FMCA Pomona RV Rally A Mixed Bag

"We attended the rally as planned. In our opinion, it was not as well attended as in previous years. Five or six years ago I believe they had about 8,000 attendees. This year we heard only about 2,500 attended. (Don't hold me to that exact number.)
We spoke to a number of vendors. Their comments varied from positive to less than positive. For some, their sales were not as brisk as in years past. The sales for items of necessity seemed strong, but sales for frivolous items were less positive.
RV displays were the usual assortment of ostentatious behemoths. Interest was less than strong. The smaller and newer type-C and Bs seemed to be attracting the interest of many.
Our little 23 ft. LTV Freedom II attracted a lot of interest in the parking area."V. Phil Tullar, Ph.D.

I believe his views are correct: the cost of fuel (as well as the cost of almost everything else) will impact the number and length of trips that folks will be taking in their RVs. And that will impact sales of new units and all the many other 'neat' items that we like to have in this great lifestyle.

I agree...but beware. When my wife and I were looking at purchasing our first motor home, we were very interested in the "Sprinter" chassis-based models. At every RV show, we attended, the price of these rigs was almost 25% more than a larger Class A and the salesman would not dicker on price. I don't react well to; "That's the price...take it or leave it. There are plenty of people that will pay MSRP gladly." By the way we purchased a 2008 Tiffin Class A and paid some $40K LESS than the Sprinter. For the mathematically challenged: it would take a lot of fuel to make up the difference in purchase price!

Sprinter-based Winnebago Views & Itasca Navions can be purchased for about %25 off. Check the dealer in Forest City, IA.
We attended an RV show this weekend and talked with a dealer who said they are no longer taking used class A's on trade since they aren't moving off the lots. Class C's are where the interest is.
