Low Cost RV Security System In Your Pocket

Want an easy to install RV security system? Pull your keys out of your pocket and look at the key fob. This little device could help you scare off an intruder. Simply keep it by your bed and if you hear someone tampering with your RV, truck or car, just hit the panic button on the key fob. Criminals do not want to draw attention to themselves and when you car or truck alarm begins hammering away they won't stay around long. It's simple, quick and effective. Hat tip to Wayne Kingston, RV tech extraordinaire for this great idea. Helping to keep you safe and secure on the RV road - Jim Twamley, Professor of RVing

  • I had a similar device that was activated by pulling a pin. (like a hand grenade) I kept it in my purse and the pin repeatedly kept getting dislodged in the worst of places. Dr's office, grocery store etc. I got some real stares from startled onlookers. So beware.

Otherwise it probably would be a great prowler alarm.

  • I love the idea, so simple, why didn't I think of that. Economical, fast, easy.

  • Our RV comes with these, and of course they are with our keys. We sleep soundly, with the keyring nearby, knowing that we have that 'extra' protection from intruders.

  • The "Beware of Dog" sign that we posted, I feel is helpful. Also have barking dog on my CD.

  • This sounds like a great idea when you are RVing. BUT it also is a great idea to put your key ring with your car's remote on your bedside table AT HOME. Then if you hear strange noises in the night around your home and think it might be a prowler, you can push that panic button and scare away anyone who is up to no good.

  • A few years ago we were staying in a MD SP. It was about 2 a.m. when I heard voices. I peeked out the window and saw several teens walking around. Knowing that there were no families in the park at the time, I was concerned. I had my keys next to the bed so, I picked them up and hit the "LOCK" button. Since the truck was already locked, it "chirped" and the headlights flashed. The kids took off running!
Ever since then, I make sure my keys are close at hand at night.

  • the racking of my piece also works quite well.

  • My key fob does not have a panic button. Constantly pressing the 'lock' button ( like you were really enjoying it....!! ) gives almost the same result as a panic button though, and is enough to scare of most amateur intruders. Other than that, just set your wife on them......
    Deffinately anonymous in BC Canada.
( works well for bear and cougars too....)

  • I have a spare one that I keep by my bed. That's the first thing to come out when I park for the night! I did it when I still lived in a "stick built" house after seeing a blurb about it on tv.

  • I carry two extra ammunition magazines and have a light on my pistol next to my badge. God help them if they make it in...
