Champion RV window cleaner gets Bugs Off in the first round

Need a bug collection for the front of your RV? Love bugs are abundant in south Texas in April as evidenced by my motorhome windshield. These creatures are greasy and very difficult to remove especially after they’ve baked in the sun and welded themselves to the glass. You almost need a sand blaster to get these things off. Fortunately there is a great product that does the job the first time. The product is called “Bugs r' Off” and is sold by a company supplying a wonderful line of RV products. The company is Coil n’ Wrap and you may purchase Bugs r' Off online by clicking here: Coil n’ Wrap. I put this product to the challenge by cleaning the driver side window with regular blue window cleaner and the passenger side with Bugs r' Off. I can tell you without hesitation that Bugs r' Off is up to the task of removing these tough to clean bugs. The blue window cleaner left streaks and basically smeared the greasy bug mess making it worse. The hands down champion of this contest is Bugs r' Off. The product is shipped with a full spray bottle ready to use and a bottle of concentrate that will fill four more bottles. It will not remove wax finishes, leaves no soap residue and can be used on glass, chrome, fiberglass, leather, woodwork, counters and tires. I carry an extra bottle in my towed vehicle because there is nothing worse than touring a special place with a dirty windshield. I can see clearly now the bugs are gone - Jim Twamley, Professor of RVing

  • Hi Jim!

I am going to order and try the Bugs 'r Off product. We live in Florida and have love bug season twice a year. Those little critters can be a big problem on our RV and cars. Thanks for another great suggestion. We're glad we have you looking out for us!

  • Hi Jim-

It is a shame to have to turn to another "product" for simple cleaning techniques. As a motorcycle traveler, I have found that a rag or towel soaked in warm water will loosen any bug splatters very easily if you cover and soak the soiled area for a few minutes -- softens them right up. We should reduce the amount of chemicals we use and carry and look for more environmentally friendly solutions.

  • We live and travel in Nebraska and bugs a real problem in the summer.
Going to order Bugs 'r and give it a try as other cleaners do a poor job of cleaning the windshield. Also will be great for our autos.

  • The absolute best is Heloise's "receipt"!

    1/3 non-sudsy ammonia
    1/3 rubbing alcohol
    1/3 water

It's a miracle worker on bugs, etc., even on household glass and mirrors. No streaks.

    Try it. You'll be surprised!

  • I know this will sound crazy but this was suggested by a fellow tx camper. Wet a dryer sheet, run it over the buggy windshield, maybe give it a swipe with your hand squeegee, rinse off with the hose, then I take a microfiber towel soaked in a 50/50 vinegar water solution, wipe down and then squeegee dry. sparkling and bugs gone. It seems the "dryer sheet solution" softens the sun baked bugs.

  • A cropduster friend once explained it to me this way: Bugs are mostly acidic in their makeup - baking soda will neutralize acidic things. A moist sponge with a paste of baking sode on it will dissolve just about any bug going. Putting baking soda in your windshield washer fluid doesn't hurt, either.
