Get a handle on your RV screen door
Like most motorhome screen doors, there is a plastic piece that slides back and forth giving you access to the door handle. When the door is open and you don’t want bugs invading your RV space, you simply slide the plastic cover shut.Sometimes this is easier said than done because the current “handle” on these covers is a small ridge about a quarter of an inch high. Jens, from Wade, Mississippi needs his screen door to work correctly and efficiently so he added a simple cabinet handle to make it easier to open and close.
He cut the handle screws so they would be the proper depth to hold the handle snugly in place. He drilled two holes, inserted the screws and fastened the handle onto the plastic screen door cover.
Thanks Jens for a simple but excellent RV improvement idea. Putting doable ideas in your grasp - Jim Twamley, Professor of RVing

What a simple great idea! Those doors have been the same forever and need some think tank work to come up with a better way. But most of the stuff used by RV's today has been around for years without much change. No need to spend money on R & D if they all use it we have no choice.

Sounds like a good idea, only one problem...other people end up pulling the handle and breaking the slide...just happened to us this weekend. Now we need a new slide.

You can't fix stupid. Some persons don't think. Could be they're daydreaming, too tired, too hurried, or just plain too stupid to figure out the operation of a simple slide and the strength of the plastic. Are you going to place a handle on the replacement slide?

I agree that it is just a way to break the slide or pull it out of the track. Just silicon the track and the door glides effortlessly.

That is a good idea. Our biggest problem was closing the door - finding that little handle through the screendoor. It can be a big challenge especially with an arm full of groceries or wind blowing.
We saw someone else with this idea and that it great. We took an aluminum tube, smashed the ends, cut it to size and screwed it into the screendoor. It is at an angle and really makes it easy to close both doors.
