Can RVers Safely Haul it All?

RVers should respect the hazards involved with towing. If you have never pulled a trailer or 5th wheel, then please seek the advice of a seasoned RVer or take a class, watch the DVD’s and read the books we have available at RV Bookstore.com. RV Bookstore
It very well could save your life and the lives of others. Towing is only as safe as you make it. You, the vehicle operator, are ultimately responsible for the condition of your towing equipment and the way you drive. Which brings me to the point – how can we haul all the stuff we need and be safe at the same time? Deuce Haul may be the answer for you. With this system you can haul two or three things at once, like a boat and a car. This unique trailering system uses hydraulic power to raise the top vehicle up while you stow another vehicle underneath. Once the lower vehicle is stowed, just lower the top vehicle until it is about six inches from the top of the lower vehicle, install the safety bolt and off you go. Once you’re at the lake, you can remove the lower vehicle, lower the boat on top and launch it like you would with a regular boat trailer. Company Vice President, Judy Sehons will help you to get the right trailer and options for your application. Since the company manufacturing facility is in Lake City, Florida, you will need to talk to her about shipping options (there are several available). Deuce Haul, Inc.
This rugged tandem axle trailer was designed with simplicity and ease of use in mind. The push button hydraulic system smoothly raises and lowers the upper rack so you can take along more than one toy on you next outing. Helping you get the most out of your RVing experience – Jim Twamley

You Can Make Your Own Toy Hauler!

Sometimes you can make what you need from stuff you have laying around. My good friend Bob Smith from New Paris, OH made a toy hauler out of a covered utility trailer. This is Bob and his better half - Wanda. Below is his converted - now a multi-purpose utility trailer/toy hauler.Since Bob installs commercial silos all over the United States he frequently needs a utility trailer to carry his tools to the project and keep them locked up while not in use. Bob got to thinking that he could also make a nice toy hauler out of his utility trailer and so he went to work. He installed an AC unit, roof vents, paneling and insulation, electric, port-holes (he wanted windows but needed to maintain the security of the trailer when he used it for work - so he opted for port-holes which are actually product viewers he uses in his silos), an inflatable bed, refrigerator, carpet and some furniture. Now his utility trailer is truly a multi-use vehicle. It’s an RV when he needs one, a tool crib for on the job and a toy hauler that will easily carry his ATV and motorcycle. Perhaps this utility trailer conversion is just what you need. It doesn’t cost that much to make, especially if you already have the utility trailer. You may also want to consider screening in the openings if you camp in mosquito land.My wife Marilyn and I are out here on the RV road having a lot of fun bringing you new and fresh ideas and meeting many wonderful people on the journey. I thank all of you for your continued readership. Perhaps we will meet up at a campground along the way. I certainly enjoy meeting you! Jim

Innovative Trailers Expand The RV Fun Factor

This RVer takes his toys seriously and he also takes them with him wherever he goes. Toy haulers, utility trailers and multipurpose trailers have expanded the fun factor for RVers these days. It is not unusual to see motorhomes pulling large utility trailers that usually have a car, motorcycle, inflatable boat, air tools, power tools, complete wood shops, you name it and it’s out there on wheels. Whoever said, “You can’t take it with you” obviously didn’t see this. Have fun out there! Jim

Unique Trailer Sparks Campground Curiosity

Wes & Ann Green from Noblesville, Indiana pulled into camp today towing this behind their Itasca Winnebago Class C motorhome. Naturally I’m thinking, “What in the world is that thing?” Turns out it’s a motorcycle trailer made by “Toy Carrier” and runs about $3,050.00. Empty it weighs 683 pounds with a payload capacity of 1450 pounds. For security it has a key lock for the clamshell cover. Here is the link: Toy Carrier Trailers Wes has been riding motorcycles for over 40 years and loves to take his Honda GoldWing touring. He and Ann just use the RV for a home base while they take the bike out for day trips. The nice thing about this trailer is that the cover is made of plastic and is very tough. The company claims it won’t corrode or stress crack and is stronger than fiberglass and aluminum covers. It has an easy scissor lift system that you can operate with one hand.
A center wheel holder helps stabilize the bike on the trailer while the bike is tied down with cargo straps. Toy Carrier is also coming out with a double bike trailer soon.Wes, Ann and Sophie their Blue Merle Collie enjoy the RV lifestyle and we enjoyed meeting them.
