  • Hi Chuck, a memory of the magic fingers . Early 70s my husband and I driving my mother to NC to visit her family ( she had the gift of laughter ) she gets settled in puts in her quarter, and after a time realizing a problem she calls to us in a fit of laughter. What a great memory. Thanks for all the articles on the days gone by that for some of us was the good times.

  • This is about 2 lane roads. When I was growing up in the early 50’s our family outing was a drive after church Sunday afternoon. Something many people did back in the day. Here in Arizona at the time, there were only 3 paved highways as I recall, routes 66, 666 & 80, everything else was graded dirt roads. In fact most of the little towns were of graded roads and the only paved road was the highway that ran through them usually called main street. And as an RVer since 1989 I still prefer the 2 lanes to do my travels to see and enjoy this wonderful country . I do use the interstates when I want to get from A to B in a hurry.
