"Looking forward, due to recent and unexpected circumstances beyond the control of Country Coach, it now appears that Country Coach will be forced to permanently shut down unless it obtains additional financing on or before February 28, 2009," company CEO Jay Howard wrote in a letter to employees. Howard said that even if the company gets a cash infusion, it expects layoffs starting about March 1. "We're continuing to search for financing, that's where all of our efforts are," Howard said. "We're spending every second trying to secure financing." The privately held company already laid off hundreds of employees in 2008 with 500 remaining. As recently as June, 2006, it had 1,700 workers with plans to hire more. Country Coach was founded in 1973. It builds luxury rear engine diesel motorcoaches with multiple slide room options in 34' to 45' lengths. Watch the RV Travel TV ChannelYou don't need a TV to watch loads of videos about RVing.
