Elkhart, Indiana -- Big coach manufacturer Monaco has had a mind change. Earlier in August, the firm said it would close three plants in Indiana. But now, the company says it has reconsidered and will keep one Elkhart plant in operation.
According to an Associated Press story, Monaco will keep its chassis manufacturing line operating, which works with Navistar International to produce the rolling gear for Monaco motorhomes.
The company also says it will hold a job fair to look for new employees from the ranks of those tossed out of work by other RV manufacturer layoffs. No word on how many Monaco jobs have been saved in this move.
