About RV Park WiFi Hotspots
 |
| Using Wi-Fi technology, an
RVer can connect to the Internet at broadband speed from the
comfort of their RV. |
Many RV parks offer Wireless Internet
access to RV-ers using what's known as WiFi technology. WiFi stands
for Wireless Fidelity. It's also known as 802.11b and is basically
a two-way radio with about a 300 ft. range and software that sends
and receives standard internet data, usually at broadband speed
(fast!).
Right now all it takes to connect with a
WiFi connection is a $50 (or so) PC card that plugs into your
PC's PCMCIA slot. It works on both PCs and Macs. Places where
internet access is provided by WiFi are often called hotspots
and hotspots are being set up in tens of thousands of new places
this year. Restaurants, coffee shops, convenience stores, hotels,
motels, airports, even truck stops. Just about anyplace where
people congregate is likely to have a hotspot in the next few
years.
WiFi can be free, but there is usually a
charge, often by the month, or in the case of many RV parks, by
the hour or day.
Our list here is brand new as of mid-2003.
We are only listing RV Wi-Fi enabled parks by their name and city.
