RV websites of the week:

Keeping Healthy on the Road
The freewheeling RV lifestyle gives us the chance for activities that make travel such a pleasure. We can explore new trails and enjoy the great outdoors almost every day. But keeping our bodies healthy and in shape, making nutritious eating choices when fast food is everywhere can be a challenge. Bob & Lynn Difley conduct classes on this important subject at Life on Wheels and RV rallies, providing tips and exercises that can be done in the RV or campground or even while in the driver's seat. Check out their HealthyRVLifestyle designed as "your guide to staying healthy, fit, and active on the road."

Take Advantage of Being Self-Contained
One of the greatest things about RVing is that you can save money by occasional or even long-term stays at many locations, including BLM and other public lands. Two brothers from British Columbia have created this Boondocking Guide website to share tips and info. They provide links to other sites, as well as a "routes" page that lets you see what's available along the way you want to go.

Boondocking Not Your Thing? Want Info on Campground Options?
When it comes to finding a campground, RVers have many choices, from elegant RV parks with swimming pools, saunas, libaries and entertainment halls, to state parks with limited facilities. Read this article in NewRVer.com about the major types of U.S. campgrounds.

Cell Phone Plan Comparisons
There are as many opinions among RVers as to the best cell phone service provider as there are RVers. We all agree keeping in contact is important, but who has the best deal out there? Point.com is a free service that searches the internet daily for the best deals on provider plans, including rebates and other great savings opportunities.

A Virtual Campfire Community
At RVClub.com you can read and share reviews of RVs, review articles, tips and FAQ's designed for the newbies and the most experienced RVer. See what your fellow travelers have to say about things from the campgrounds they've stayed at to the places they've eaten, browse the classifieds to buy/sell RVs, campground memberships and other items of interest to RVers.

The largest gathering of RVs in the world in the Arizona desert
Some believe you're not an official RVer until you've been to the Quartzsite RV Show. Here you'll find all the info you need to decide if you want to be one of the 40-50,000 RVs parked in and around Quartzsite during this annual event. Check out pictures of the seemingly endless sea of RVs and who's on the entertainment schedule for the upcoming year.

Finding Your Perfect RV
RVFinder.com is a pretty neat service that allows you to enter all kinds of criteria for the RV you want to buy. Then you choose how far you want to drive to look at them. Then you get quotes from up to three dealers in that area for comparison purposes. Of course there's no obligation and there's even a link to a site that you can list an RV for sale with no listing charge.

Don't pay to stay: Learn about more than 620 places where an RVer can camp for free on $10 or less. You'll find an ever-expanding directory at FreeCampgrounds.com

And we think RVers have it bad with the cost of fuel
Everyone's feeling the pain at the pump these days. But here's something to make us RVers feel a little better. This Star Gazette article compares Nascar race cars fuel costs vs. motorhomes. $6.25 a gallon and 4 mpg?!

Has anybody seen my Bounder?
The TV show Extreme Makeover - Home Edition rebuilt a sticks & stone home, but lost the rolling home lent to them in the process. A local RV dealer loaned the $90,000 motorhome as a goodwill gesture to get the staff out of the heat, but someone took it on the lam. Salt Lake Tribune article tells the initial story, and the followup is here about it being found in need of a bumper makeover.

Walmart controversy rears its head in Emporia, Kansas
"We don't like it, but it's one of those things," says a local campground owner as she surveys the boondockers at the local WalMart. A filmmaker of a documentary on the subject adds, "A lot of them (campers) recognize some of the contradictions and absurdities of camping at a Wal-Mart. Even RVers themselves don't deny it." Centre Daily Times article.
