Who Ya Gonna Call?
Scam Busters
- When being smart is NOT enough to protect yourself against clever
online and offline scammers. If you have a credit card, cell phone,
Internet connection -- even a library card -- you've supplied all the
tools a sneaky scammer needs to take you to the cleaners. Many scams
aren't as obvious as the Nigerian Prince ... unless you know about them
in advance. This is a free service you can get by subscription. The
Urban Myths section is particularly entertaining. Find out the answer
to the burning question, "Does KFC Use Real Chicken?"
Speaking of scamming...
RV & Camper Buying Tips and Scams To Avoid
is an article with some interesting info on common RV dealer scams,
rebate rip-offs, "tales from the trenches" that reveals RV salesmen
tricks and some of their sales pitches to look out for. On the flip
side of the coin, check out "rude things an RV customer should not do"
so you're not guilty of deception yourself.
Best Health Care Plans of 2005
Good health care coverage is important whether you're on the road or not. U.S. News Honor Roll
compiles and ranks commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid health plans,
scoring performance across four major categories. They even provide a
complete list with a box that lets you select and compare up to four
commercial plans.
Health Insurance Options for RVers
Finding affordable health insurance with good coverage can be a big
stumbling block to hitting the road. There is no way around doing your
own research to see which state and policy is right for you, but this Jaimie Hall article gives some good pointers.
Don't pay to stay: Learn about more than 850 places where an RVer can camp for free on $10 or less. You'll find an ever-expanding directory at FreeCampgrounds.com

Finding Yourself on the Road
Recent college grads still had no clue what to do with their lives, so
they hit the road asking others how they figured it out. They got
answers from the likes of Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, Dell computers
founder Michael Dell and president of the Seattle Mariners Chuck
Armstrong. Now Roadtrip Nation
funds this unconventional post-graduate program that pays the expenses
of a one-of-a-kind, lime-green motor home trip for other seekers of the
road less traveled.
Stupid RV Criminals
One guy decides to reduce his consumer debt by stealing from his friendly neighborhood RV Park -- another brilliant guy tries to run from the cops in a stolen RV
because he thinks they're after him for an arrest warrant for yet
another police chase. This time he and the RV he stole from a relative
end up in the river.
Fractional RV Ownership
CoachShare is a better way to own a luxury motorcoach!
Do
you dream of owning a luxurious motorcoach, but don't want the
year-round expense and hassles of private ownership? Why not "share" a
luxury coach with CoachShare? Pay only for the time you need and save
up to 80 percent over full-time ownership. Learn more.
Just for Fun
Adventures in Camping With Scoop Jackson
One of the pleasures of camping is enjoying the wildlife. You tend to
become one with the animals, spending your evenings watching them,
sometimes even talking to them. There’s nothing wrong with this, unless
the turtle you talk to every night has been dead for a week. Talking to Turtles is a funny tale of a turtle's tragedy.
Scamp Lessons for Newbie's or The Road from Backus
A young-at-heart "nearing 70" owner of a brand new 13' Scamp wasn't really bothered by the low ceiling because "I'm beginning to get a little stooped anyhow." He also shares lessons learned along the way like "Sometimes
when I drive by with my little egg shaped trailer, women smile. This
pleases me. Most women will use the word cute. This causes me to cringe
but I can stand it. (Lesson: It's better that they notice you than that
they ignore you.) Join in the fun with Ron Mayo's Journal.
