So for now, free overnight stays in public parking lots are allowed in the town of 50,000 along the most popular route to and from Alaska. The City Council will take up the topic again and is expected to rule that stays of between 12 and 24 hours are okay. After the council's decision to ban the overnight stays was announced two weeks ago, the mayor and council members were flooded with angry emails from RVers from throughout Canada and the USA, most of whom said they would no longer visit the town, or at the very least spend no money there.
