The family friendly park recently re-opened its once dormant drive-in movie screen after a change in ownership. Jim Remley, the new park owner, remembers a time when there used to four drive-in movies serving the area but watched as they slowly disappeared over the last two decades. "I have fond memories of going to the drive-in movie with my folks but over the years they have all but disappeared" said Remley. "I wanted to offer families the opportunity to share a drive-in movie experience with their kids. My nine year old son loves it!" Remley an Oregon native purchased the Hi-Way Haven RV Park in January after leasing the land since September 2005. He was inspired to return the park to its original roots as a local landmark where he once watched movies as a child. Guests of the 102 site park can now watch classic films from the comfort of their own RV, or from a car as some prefer. Drive-In theaters peaked in the United States in the late 1950s with more than 5,000 operating across the country. Today only four remain in Oregon. Remley received his license to show classic films from the Motion Picture Licensing Corporation which grants him the ability to show films from many of the top film libraries as long as he meets some basic guidelines. "We won’t be competing with local theaters our movies will strictly be for the guests of the park, and we will only show movies that are fun to watch at a drive-in. For instance we have already shown the classic Alfred Hitchcock film Rear Window, and the original War of the Worlds. This month we will be playing the classic Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Forbidden Planet." The Hi-Way Haven RV Park is located at 609 Fort McKay Rd, in Sutherlin, Oregon.
