TigerTrak from Blue Ox said to eliminate RV tail wag

PENDER, Neb. (Nov. 19, 2007) -- You know the feeling. You're driving down the road in your gasoline-powered motorhome, an 18-wheeler truck passes and you feel a little sway in the back of the coach. You move the steering wheel slightly to correct the sway, and it becomes worse. Before long, it seems like your coach is wandering all over the road and you're struggling with the wheel to keep it straight.

The folks at Blue Ox know that feeling, too. That's why they are introducing TigerTrak, front and rear stabilizing track bars system. Blue Ox offers a TigerTrak model to fit all Ford F-53, E-350 and E-450 chassis, all Chevy P30, P32 and Kodiak truck 4500 and 5500 chassis, and the complete line of Workhorse front-engine gas chassis. TigerTrak is part of a complete line of steering control systems Blue Ox is offering.

Ralph Andrews developed TigerTrak about 10 years ago. "When I created TigerTrak, I did it for my own coach," he said. "I couldn't keep my coach on the road."

During tail wag, the chassis and tires remain firmly in contact with the highway, but the coach box itself sways because the chassis' leaf springs are so long that they flex side to side. This gives the driver the sensation that the whole back end is moving. Many RVers report they sense even more pronounced tail wag when they corner. Andrews solved the tail wag problem by designing a system to connect the axle assembly to the chassis frame. This system prevents the leaf springs from flexing side to side, yet allows the springs to do their job of providing a smooth ride through the up and down flex.

A Blue Ox dealer can install TigerTrak in just a couple of hours. Technicians bolt the assembly to the axle and frame without modifying either. Since the apparatus requires no modification to the frame or axle, warranties remain unaffected. Call 1-800-336-4336 to find a dealer who can provide and install TigerTrak.
An advanced do-it-yourselfer can also perform the installation.

High-strength alloy steel makes TigerTrak units strong, durable and still easy to install. Competing steering systems use hot rolled steel, which is less expensive than high strength alloy steel but not as strong. This production process allows Blue Ox to offer the same Limited Life Time Warranty for TigerTrak that Blue Ox has provided with its other products.

After Andrews developed TigerTrak, he and his wife Sharon, who are full timers, began selling the system at RV rallies. That is where he met Jay Hesse, president of Blue Ox, a manufacturer of towing, braking, steering and hitch systems. "I traded Jay a TigerTrak for a tow bar," said Andrews. Hesse was so impressed with what TigerTrak did for his coach, he decided to bring the product into the Blue Ox family.
