(May 8, 2007) -- The fuel-efficent Winnebago View and Itasca Navion Class C motorhomes sport some changes for 2008 including a new and improved Dodge Sprinter chassis that features a more powerful engine, as well as an optional gas engine.

The 2008 Winnebago View
Drivability has always been a hallmark of this innovative Class C coach since its introduction in 2006. Now, in 2008, the Dodge Sprinter chassis has been upgraded with a new, heavier gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) chassis -- 11,030 pounds versus 10,200 pounds in 2007 -- and a more powerful 3.0L V6 Mercedes Benz diesel engine -- up from a 2.7-liter five-cylinder diesel engine in 2007. For RVers who prefer a gasoline powered engine, the 2008 View and Navion offer an optional 3.5L V6 gasoline powered engine. The View and Navion also feature five-speed tip shift automatic transmission that's designed to be one of the smoothest, most reliable transmissions on the market, an excellent turning radius (23.5 feet), independent front suspension, ABS four wheel disc brakes and a 3,500-lb. trailer hitch.

In addition to the two engine choices, the View and Navion also feature three, 24-foot floorplans. The 24B with bunk beds in the back

of the coach is a good choice for families with children. Additional sleeping space is also found up front with two opposing sofas that easily convert into beds, while a dining table can be placed between the sofas for dining. The private bathroom sits mid-coach, and a large wardrobe is easily accessible as it sits between the bathroom and rear bed. The popular 24H and 24J models feature a front slideout room for added space. The 24H features a sofa slideout with an opposing dinette, while the 24J offers a dinette slideout with an opposing galley. The 24H offers a large bath in the rear, and the 24J features a rear corner bed that easily lifts for access to a large exterior storage space -- large enough to fit two adult bicycles!

The base price on these vehicles is in the low $80s.

Winnebago Industries will unveil the rest of its 2008 lineup May 14.
