RV websites of the week:
Weird Wanderings
Welcome to the "Twilight Zone of Travel."
This site's creator shares her fascination with ghost stories, Bigfoot
and the Loch Ness monster, UFO sightings and other strange phenomena.
She also readily admits to being a sucker for kitsch and roadside
Americana type attractions - the odder, the better. "In my travels,
I found myself accumulating file folders on these 'Weird Wanderings.'
My friends seemed to love these tales best, so it was only natural to
devote a channel to my personal travel hobby. I suspect a lot of you
share similar interests." I suspect she's right. Read about Elvis' Tiny Trailer of Tragedy, a wedding gift from Col. Parker to Elvis and Priscilla and how it may have hastened them on the road to divorce.
The Meanderthal Generations
Their ages, their rigs and their interests all vary, but their passion is the same - the freedom of life on the road. Sharlene Minshall tells the stories of several RVers who have followed their dreams and what they found on the road. "We figured we could travel and workamp around the United States, and we have," Mike claims. "I've flunked retirement four times." Another couple appreciates the perks of workamping: "Workamping
provides sites, utilities and sometimes a salary, with the opportunity
to become more deeply involved with other people and our surroundings." Karen said it best, "I don't want to live within four walls and a few windows when I can live outside in nature."
RV Travel with a Purpose… RV Care-A-Vanners
Many RVers feel an urge to give of themselves and their time for good purposes. There's even an RV division of Habitat for Humanity. "This is our way of giving back talent and resources to our community at large."
The Care-A-Vanner program offers anyone who travels in an RV the
opportunity to make a difference — and have fun while doing it — by
helping build houses with families in need. They welcome people of all
ages and from all walks of life who are ready to pick up a hammer and
help change lives.

RV News
Billings, Montana wants to "Curb the City's RV Controversy"
and move on following "an angry e-mail campaign to let RV users stay
overnight in business parking lots." A committee is selected to address
the problem and possibility of changing a 40-year-old city ordinance.
And to see some of those RVers opinions, check out this discussion in
the new RVTravel.com forum.

Winners of the IgNobel Prize
Here's the complete list of winners of the Ig Nobel Prize
and their, er, achievements, from 1991-2005. Marvel at the inventor of
the alarm clock that runs away and hides, and the scientists who
definitively answered the question, "Will humans swim faster or slower
in syrup," and "What are the effects of country music on suicide?" and
more things you never knew you wanted to know...
RV Museum
Interesting, unique and antique RVs are featured at RVsRUs. I particularly liked the Trike Class C Motorcycle but you may enjoy the VW Bug conversion better.

"Everyone's Dream, Everyone's Nightmare"
The story told by a woman fulltime RVer who ended up solo following the death of her husband in a campground. Read an interview with Joei Carlton - "author, adventurer, RVer, lecturer, and trailer trash with an ATM card."
The RV Lifestyle
Yet another solo woman RVer reports in with her experiences. Linda Scott says: "It's
totally different. It's like a mobile community. Wherever I go, I can
always meet people I feel like I've known all my life." She acknowledges the good with the bad, saying "On
the other hand, life on the road isn't always a utopia. Real life has
the knack of finding you, mobile or not. Life would be pretty boring
without any challenges."
