Curtin also trimmed his projection for 2009 shipments to retailers to 186,800, from 254,700 previously. That would be the fewest since 1991, according to the industry group's data. "Credit restrictions are causing RV buyers to delay purchases and RV dealers to keep inventories low," Curtin wrote. Demand for motorhomes and travel trailers has plummeted this year, as fuel prices rose to records, the U.S. recession curbed consumer confidence and the credit crunch tightened access to loans.
