Stock your RV with whatever you think you and your family will need for at least a week.  Then use the RV to get out of town as soon as you can. 

Full-timers have an advantage because we usually have everything we need with us.  For those of you who are weekend or vacation RVers, here are my suggestions for an immediate evacuation:

Full gas tank(s)

Full propane tank(s)

A full fresh water tank

Empty holding tanks

Enough food for your family for at least two weeks (preferably dehydrated or freeze-dried food to save weight and space)

Powdered milk

Pet food

Diapers

First aid kit

Extra prescriptions

Water purifying tablets or drops if the water source is questionable

Matches or a light stick

Percolator (to use on the stove top if you are boondocking)

Large garbage bags

Portable BBQ with charcoal or propane

Batteries of all sizes for all devices including lanterns and flashlights

A wind-up radio for weather and other information

$100 in small bills or coins (20 Susan B. Anthony or Sacajawea dollar coins fit in a 35mm film canister, five canisters don’t take up much room, they won’t burn in case of fire and you’re unlikely to spend them until you need them)

A roll of coins in each denomination ($17.50 for a roll of quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies)

Be sure to test your generator and check your batteries regularly

Schedule a disaster drill with your family
