Many RVers strap a bicycle or two to their RVs for local transportation once they're settled in their campsite. But these bikes are for getting somewhere, and not for speed. But for anyone who likes bicycles and would like to see some go really fast (no, we're not talking about the Tour de France), then head over to Battle Mountain, Nevada Oct. 1 to 6 to see some of the fastest bicycle riders in the world.
State Route 305 in northeastern Nevada is known as one of the
straightest, flattest and smoothest roads in the world, making it the ideal
venue for the World Human-Powered Speed Challenge.
Bicyclists from around the world will gather just outside of Battle
Mountain for these five days to test their speed. Racers sit astride recumbent bikes and
pedal for four miles to get up to speed, then are timed over a 200-meter
distance. This is where world records are set and broken, and the fastest
cyclists in the world vie to be No. 1.

bustling desert town of Battle Mountain, visit www.recumbents.com.
There are RV parks in the local area, and plenty of public lands where the camping is free.
