Welcome to Fleetwood RV
October 27, 2009
Dear Fleetwood Friend:
I am writing to you today to announce the launch of Fleetwood RV, Inc. As you may already be aware, on July 17, 2009, American Industrial Partners Capital Fund IV LP (“AIP”) acquired certain motorized recreational vehicle business assets from Fleetwood Enterprises, Inc. On July 20, 2009, in partnership with AIP we launched a new company, Fleetwood RV, Inc., which is jointly run by CEO, Chuck Wilkinson and me. Chuck has over 40 years of RV industry experience, 25 years with Fleetwood, holding several senior management positions, and I have held senior management positions at some of the top manufacturers in the RV industry, including Fleetwood Enterprises, since 1997.
Today, Fleetwood RV, Inc. is headquartered in Decatur, Ind., and is a debt-free company that continues to produce the same best-selling Fleetwood motor home brands you’ve come to know and love over the years. In fact, Fleetwood is the top-selling Class A motor home manufacturer in the industry, and has been for 21 of the past 22 years.
Fleetwood RV, Inc. is committed to preserving Fleetwood’s 60-year legacy of building high-quality, high-value recreational vehicles and to nurturing our relationship with our dealers and customers.
Fleetwood RV, Inc. backs all of its new motor homes with an industry-leading warranty policy (limited one-year/15,000-mile coach warranty and three-year/45,000-mile structural warranty, whichever occurs first, and is fully transferable for the first 12 months).
For service or warranty questions about your existing Fleetwood motor home product, please contact Owner Relations via phone at (800) 322-8216. For service or warranty questions about your existing American Coach product, please contact American Coach Owner Relations at (800) 435-7345. For the latest information about all of our motor home products or to locate a Fleetwood RV dealer in your area, please visit our website at www.fleetwoodrv.com.
There has never been a better time to buy a new Fleetwood RV motor home and we look forward to the opportunity to welcome you to the new Fleetwood RV, Inc.
Sincerely,
John Draheim
President / COO

I'm sure that information will be welcome to all the Fleetwood motorhome owners out there. Unfortunately, they said nothing about the thousands, probably tens of thousands, of people who own a Fleetwood towable...I guess they're all SOL? _________________ LindaH

I have been on Fleetwood's e-mail list for years. I received this e-mail yesterday.

As per a full page ad in Trailer Life magazine, Fleetwood towables and their subsidiaries were purchased by the folks who own Nash. They are ramping up production of them and have hired 100 of the previous Fleetwood employees. The Nash and Arctic Fox brand base company has just gotten much bigger. _________________ Mike, Nancy and the Fuzzies

That's not quite right.
Ron & Sherry Nash (owners of Northwood Mfg., makers of Arctic Fox, Nash, and Desert Fox), bought the Fleetwood plant in La Grande, Oregon along with the rights to the Fleetwood travel trailer designs and prints. The new company is called Outdoors RV Manufacturing and they are making travel trailers under the brand names of Creek Side, Tamarak Trail, Timber Ridge, and Wind River. As far as I know, and from what this site says, the old La Grande, OR Fleetwood plant is the only one they've bought. They also don't say ANYTHING about taking over any of the liability...which would include warranty work...of Fleetwood towable owners. In fact, the above link says ONLY that they bought the plant and the designs/prints. _________________ LindaH

Please quote my post where I said anything about liability for Fleetwood. Please quote my post where I said anything about the Nash's taking on the "good will" of the old Fleetwood operation. You draw an awful lot of assumptions from a 3-line post there. Please do not infer what was not implied or directly stated in my posts. Any inferences on your part are not my responsibility, they are yours. _________________ Mike, Nancy and the Fuzzies

Mike, I had made the comment about the thousands of Fleetwood towable owners who were SOL, and you came up with the comment about Nash buying Fleetwood and all their subsidiaries, so I just made the assumption you were saying that they were taking over their liabilities. Sorry if I read more into what you said.
However, Northwood did not buy Fleetwood and all their subsidiares...they just bought the LaGrande, OR facility. _________________ LindaH

I read the statement in your first post and interpreted it the same as elh did because that's what it says; no "inferences" are necessary if one takes your statement, i.e., "Fleetwood towables and their subsidiaries were purchased by the folks who own Nash" at face value.
And, if the "folks who own Nash" had actually bought "Fleetwood towables and their subsidiaries", they also purchased its liabilities and any goodwill unless there was a specific exclusionary provision in the sale. And, JMHO, but I'd sure never consider a full-page ad in Trailer Life as a source of accurate and/or complete information! YMMV. |

Linda, the comments I posted were not meant to be derogatory to you. Just a change in Fleetwood towables status so folks will still have an option to buy from some brands "back from the dead." Frankly, I was happy that some manufacturers/brands are still going to be around and folks have a job. Nothing more than that.
JRF, if you have a better source or info, trot it out.
I would hardly assume, under the current economic situation, that a new owner would want to take on any company's liabilities any more than Jayco did with purchasing Travel Supreme's equipment. So far I haven't seen anything out of Jayco yet that indicates they are doing any trailers similar to or using Travel Supreme's designs and equipment. That's unfortunate for us as we would have liked to look at TS products for our next unit. _________________ Mike, Nancy and the Fuzzies
