We use our Visa card for airline miles. We save all receipts and write the transaction in the checkbook register as if we wrote a check & deduct the amount from our balance. When the bill comes in, the money is accounted for and the bill is paid. We earn enuf air miles to fly round-trip once a year for husband & myself.

With our credit card our account is automatically paid in full each month. The only way to miss a payment is to not have enough funds in the bank account to cover the total amount. That never happens. We earn "dollars" that pay for all our camper and truck insurance each year.

Not only do we pay-in-full (via autopay) every month, we try to put all our expenses on the card. This provides us a detailed monthly accounting while earning us airlines points--Europe twice, Hawaii twice, Mexico once plus many U.S. flights, all on points. We love "free"!

We always payoff the balance each month. In fact, we have the bank auto debit our checking account to payoff the statement balance each month. We view our transactions online every few days to assure they are proper and refunds made timely. Life is too short to worry about bills and writing checks. Borrow money on another loan source if you cannot payoff the balance on credit card each month. CC rates are too high for anyone to ever get caught up.

Failing to pay off the entire credit card balance every month is the best way to make sure the banks get your money, which is great if you want to be part of the bank bail-out program, but not so great if you want to be able to buy fuel for your RV!
