the speed limit should not be lower. It is dangerous to have large vehicles going slower than smaller ones. think about someone going 75mph coming up behind some one going 55 mph. My husband is a truck driver . It is a inane law.

let states regulate speed limits, but enforce them.

I drive the speed limit and believe the speed for all vehicles should be the same. I am not a fulltimer. While many comment that it is the speeders that create accidents I believe that situations are created by vehicles which are required to travel a reduced speed which restricts the traffic flow. It is normally a rule that 80% of the drivers checked by radar over a period of time drive a reasonable speed to set the speed limits by on the highway.

I STRONGLY believe that all vehicles over 10,000 lbs should be speed regulated to no more than 60 mph (similar to Europe). The larger the vehicle--the slower the speed. Also, restricting commercial vehicles to the right lane(s) only would drastically cut back on accidents and safety issues. IMHO

The speed limits are not the issue here...no it is enforcement or a lack of uniform, consistent enforcement.

I have never understood why vehicles should drive faster than the posted speed limit! It uses more fuel and increases likelihood of an accident.

State speed laws should have a reasonable and safe provision along with a speed limit. This can leave a lot up to the officer but if the law is well written it can work.Ca. had this years ago,i dont know if it is still on the books,i believe Ariz.also had it.

Impose a reasonable speed limit for a particular road....and make an effort to enforce it. OR, do away with speed limits altogether.

If you want to go 55 or 65 you can do that now and save fuel. I believe lower speed limit creates more violators and we have enough of them all ready. I agree with all those who say enforce the current speed limits. While MADD has highlighted a major problem, speeders still causes more accidents and fatalities. Police just do not get recognized for stopping speeders.

It is already the law that vehicles that tow a trailer/fifth wheel, etc go 55 MPH (in California). We see motorhomes doing 70 plus and wonder where they will be splattered on the road at or if they will kill other innocent people. I think 65 is good if it is enforced.
